http://abysseaunleashed.0sites.net/Index.html

It's not the prettiest site, but it's functional and had more or less up-to-date information on it. I'll update it as needed. If there is something that needs to be added or changed please let me know. Thanks

Ok, so we cant buy more than one Ivory Abyssite of Soujorn, they dont
stack.

And another interesting find: The max amount of time you can buy,
WITHOUT ZONING , is a total of 120 minutes. If you want more, without
time extensions, you need to exit. Yes, people showed before that the
max was 120, but that was trying to get more than 120 at the very start.

One of our members went in with 117 minutes (or something similar) on
the clock, so he didnt use any stones to enter. After about 70 minutes,
he went back to base camp to buy another 30 minutes, it told him he was
getting 33 minutes (with soujorn) for a total time of 33 + w/e he had
left, but only gave him the 3 minutes to bump him to 120.

The rest of us were able to zone out, reenter , and got our full time
from the stones.

So yea, if you are planning on a multiple hour run, you can have 120 on
the clock, 3 stones on you, and 3 stones on Joachim. But you will need
to zone out to use them all. Spending the 120 on the clock and using the
3 on you wont work unless you zone, thus breaking any chain you might
have had on that character.

Seems also time extension chests can drop better chance of them dropping if you farm a single mob family like crazy. Some people leveled from 77 - 80 in one mad 5+ hour session with only the 3 initial stones...

Seems they have found the secret with just xping getting crour out the ass ......

Quote :

Ok, after this parse, we took a short break and went back for another 3
hours. However, the job distribution was a little bit different and the
chest results were WAY different. Our intitial run yesterday was 3
hours and a pretty large mixture of chest types; we had 2 BLMs there,
and we gave them shit for pulling hate and making mobs run, so they
backed off as the session progressed.

The session Hezz posted here was very DD heavy, with only 1 sch
occasionally nuking iirc. Getting Time Extensions was extremely
difficult, to the point that 2 people timed out and another one was
literally 10 seconds from when we were able to get a TE. We started
getting more at that point, but the really crazy thing was that we were
getting mega boxes like crazy (hence all the key items). At one point
we had 4 megas up at one time.

In contrast the later session had 2 more BLMs than the earlier session
and we got almost no gold boxes, and not a single mega box. However, we
got Time Extensions like nobody's business, to the point that when we
exited, I wasted about 20 mins running around doing quests and still
exited with 119 minutes.

Essentially, it seems that the BLMs were landing enough kill shots that
our light was mostly azure, occasionally pearlescent, and rarely ruby.
This seemed to translate into an enormous tendency for blue boxes to
drop.

So:

Session 1: 3 hours, light switched between ruby, pearlescent, &
azure a lot; chest distribution was pretty even, favoring ruby &
azure a little bit.

Session 2: 4 hours, light was almost always ruby or pearlescent; chest
distribution was extremely slanted towards gold/items & red
(additionally, towards the end of the session, opening red chests, which
is regarded as pretty easy, was almost impossible)

Session 3: 3 hours, light was azure the vast majority of the time; chest
distribution was far and away in favor of blue.

Theorycrafting would tend to point to needing magical kill shots to have
the best chance at getting time extensions. For those having
difficulty getting to the time extension boxes: bring more BLMs.

Also, I don't believe the chest opener does not automatically receive
the key item; you still check it and take the "item" out.

PostSubject: Re: Abyssea Information   Abyssea Information EmptyWed Jul 07, 2010 2:05 pm

The type of chests you get appear to be influenced greatly by the type of light your group has. Red light (gained from melee kills / WS kills) = more red chests (modifier bonuses), Blue (Azure) light (gained from magical damage kills) = more blue chests (exp, cruor, and time extensions once your chain modifier is high enough). So far this theory has been backed up by some data. One person claimed they had an alliance of blms manaburning worms in Konschtat and were getting a steady stream of blue chests. I'm sure there still quite a bit of randomness to all of it, but at this time it appears the best way to get the most out of a farming / cruor run is to go in with a well balanced group of mages and melee. Time extension chests and key item chests seem to be dependent upon getting to a certain tier before they will pop.

The run I did last night was very melee-heavy and had an extremely fast killing speed of around 2 mandies every 30 sec, but our chain was broken when someone decided to pull the Bhumi NM. Most of our chests consisted of feeble lights and temp items. We did get one exp chest (750 exp), one cruor chest (200), and one brown and gold item chest (Scroll of Cure VI). Next time I'll try to get more mages into the mix and see if the results are any better for chests.

Things slowed down after maintenance but picked back up after awhile...

Quote :

I decided to form a group to test out a few of these theories. I'll
post my results and let you guys come to your own conclusions.

I built an alliance with 7 BLM and about 5 Melee (rest were
tanks/support). We fought Mandys and for the entire duration of our
run, we allowed only BLMs to get the kill shots with nukes. Our Light
was without a doubt "Azure Light" the ENTIRE time and we got a total of
10 time extensions in 2.5 hours. Every chest was blue with the
exception of 2-3 red ones.

Some general observations:
- Exp was the slowest to rise compared to the other 5 runs I did. We
hit 300 exp per fight after about 2 hours.
- Melee only got in about 10 kill shots the entire run. On those and
ONLY those fights, the Light changed to "Pearlescent" (sp?). On these,
exp seemed to jump up slightly more than usual, but I can't be certain.
- The chests we got (always blue) were pretty rare. We got 1 chest
about every 10-15 kills. This was not at all like the other runs where
you can't get to chests fast enough.
- The chests were always one of the following, from very early on: 1250
exp, 1000 cruor, Soothing Light, Temp Items, or Time Extension.
- We got 2-3 random red chests that were gold light and something else I
can't recall (no idea what we did different to cause this).
- Azure Light was quick to build to "feeble" but then remained "feeble"
for the whole run, despite getting the "Azure Light" message after most
of the kills.
- Some of the members speculated that MB kill shot raised the chance of
chest dropping. Again, chests were relatively rare for us, but when
they did drop, they were 90% always a HQ blue chest.

if I can remember anything else, I'll post it.

Edit:
This run took place AFTER the maintenance.

So far today in a PT that is still going

Umm, we've gotten so many time extention
chests I personally have over 144 minutes left in zone still and we have
been going for well over 3 hours.

Someone in my Alliance has over 170 minutes.

This is funny.

EXP was hitting 367 per mandy.

When I capped 80 with 10/10 merits I job changed jobs and mobs reset to
90 exp per.

Someone in alliance just hit 403 per mob.

It's definitely not a majority of damage, in an alliance of almost
entirely melee a nuke can finish it off and cause an Azure light. For
the record, it's been said already but everyone should keep this in
mind, Blue Magic spells count as well, including physical spells.

Seems the key is getting blue azure light = more blue chest drops = more chances at time extensions....

Best quote about xping in abyssea ever:

This is a big hoax and a horrible,
horrible idea.

And if you must do Abyssea do NOT do the mandy

Everything you read about it is exaggerated.

Just
pick a level sync and exp the normie camps.

SE has finally if people haven't figured out yet introduced meripo for balanced parties they have been trying hard
to figure out a way to give all classes a place in meripos instead of pure burns. Seems abyssea rewards balance
bringing back better xp returns I almost expect doing skillchains and MB will directly benefit the party alliance some
way as well. That would start to explain whats up pretty quickly.

Anyone discounting the azure light adding
to time extensions: Believe what you want, but go try it out yourself.

I went last week to mandies as a pick up group and we didn't see
one TE.

I made my own party last night and..

Had tons
of fun in abys last night. We went in with 18 to farm xp/cruor. Started
with 3 stones each, and without counting I can only say we got a ton of
time chests.

We entered at 8:30pm central and exited at 1:30am
central, we left because to many were getting tired, we had plenty of
time left.

In the 5 Hours I was able to get 15.5 merits, and 30
mins of the time I was completely capped on xp/merits so I was only
getting cruor.

Edit: Also about 30k + in cruor.

Our
party set up was:
Party 1: Blu, Blu, Blu, Blm, Blm, Sch
Party 2:
Drk, Mnk, Mnk, Dnc, Brd, Whm
Party 3: Sam, Mnk, Drg, Blu, Blm, Rdm

Seems like the key to the time chests is getting magic kill shots
and keeping the "azure" light. and kill FAST. This is the
best xp party.. I've ever made hands down :p Got a lot of ppl capped on
xp/merits and had the switch jobs or go spend merits and return. We also
got a lot of people from 76-80.

When I left to go spend merits
and come back, we were at about 360xp/kill and it reset when I got
back. (There is an imaginary family chain)

All Blu magic counts
as magic kills, and magic kills were only getting us xp/time chests. So
have melee go to the next mob at about 20-30 % HP, and let the
Blu/Blm/Sch race to get kill shot. If you kill fast you get better
chances of good rewards. We were getting about 90% of the xp chests to
pop 1250 xp, but it would drop down if we started killing slower.

We
had about 2-3 boxes constantly up.

It's pretty obvious what happened. They used stones in abyssea to set
time at about 119-120 minutes, then when time was running low, went to
add more stones and raise time some more, only they didn't know that you
can only add up to 120 minutes total with stones per entry, and so
adding another stone past that only gives you one minute per stone. (or
perhaps two with the extended duration abyssite.)

Time extension chests can push the cap past this (though if you exit
with say, 300 minutes remaining, and reenter, you can only set it to 120
and rest is lost), but adding more stones cannot, you must exit then
re-enter abyssea to get the full duration.

Ok so if your doing "magic kill only" and get TE's then its
cause of the
magic kill, but if you don't then its bad luck? I'm sorry but you
can't make the facts fit the theory, it doesn't work that way. Data
first, then more data, then formulate a theory.

Did an epic run
earlier today, setup was HIGHLY melee spam orientated with a single
caller and the whole nine yards. Our setup was,

PT #1
DD
SAM
DD SAM (Caller)
DD MNK
DD MNK
BRD
COR

PT

#2
DD SAM
DD DRG
DD SAM
DD SAM
BRD
COR

PT

#3
WHM
WHM
BLM
RDM
BRD
COR

That is
about as "TP Burn" as you can possibly get. The BLM was trying for kill
shots but honestly monsters tended to live for 10 ~ 20 seconds tops.
We got 240K in about 2.5 hours when people wanted to leave. Kparse
showed 94k/hr at the end and we all ended up with more then 150 min left
remaining. Our XP per mob topped off at 590 prior to us quitting. We
were getting more then 1 TE per 10min so time just kept building. We
were getting every form of light imaginable constantly and I can say
without a doubt that the key is to kill as many things as possible. If
you try to "wait for the magic kill" then your total kill time goes too
high. SC's seem to count as magic damage also, so killing with those
produces plenty of azure light.

We basically used our dynamis
tactics scaled down a bit. One person called each mob, every other DD
used /assist macro. WHMs kept melees alive, BRD's buffed said melees,
CORs attempted to buff melee but they ended up spending all their time
on chests. You ~need~ at least two dedicated chest openers, after the
first 60 min or so TE chests started spawning like crazy and our COR's
were too busy to do anything else. Bring forbidden keys for the chest
openers, that way they can just use those on the time chests to
guarantee a pop. If peeking inside the chest says "familiar brown
stone" then its a TE chest, otherwise its something else. If you aggro
something other then the family your killing, do a CFH on it to prevent
your chain from crapping out.

Red chests seemed to level up our
XP / per mob cap and our lights with it, we're not sure though, needs
more testing. Really the only thing I can say is to kill as fast as
many mobs as fast as possible slaughter everything at max speed. Bring
in an entire alliance cause the XP isn't reduced and go for under-30s
kills.----------------------------
RoTZ:

CoP: Complete AN: O

I've tried it out a few times and I'm loving it. The first run seemed
to go more smoothly than the others for some reason. We were instructed
to let mages killshot with nukes, but after a period of about 25-35
mins we were just told to kill as quickly as possible and not to worry
about it. We had a dedicated puller and a player on chest interrogation
duty. The player on chest duty just popped everything as they came up.

I believe I only saw XP rise to maybe 570XP a kill in the
latter part of the run before I went and did a merit dump, came back,
and did another two hours. It hurts to reset, but the rate that this is
coming in is quick enough to take a job to the XP cap and merit cap.
